What the metal detector finds
The two confirmed secret-route targets for the metal detector.
Table of contents
The metal detector supports at least two important hidden routes. Its useful targets are not marked like normal pickups, so search the correct floor rather than waiting for a visible item.
Release scope: Full release only. The metal-detector routes covered here are not part of the standalone demo.
Target 1: Timesville Fishing Paper
Sweep the detector around Timesville until it identifies the buried Fishing Paper. That paper tracks all 18 fish across six time states and eventually reveals the Lost Key.
Continue with the all-fish checklist and the Lost Key puzzle.
Target 2: Misery Town projector remote
Bring the detector into the tent or theater with eight colored seats. Search the sandy floor to locate the projector remote.
Use the remote on the projector, then follow the displayed route in the checkerboard room. This is the entrance setup for Misery Town’s part of the hidden ending requirements.
The Ending C checklist connects that setup to the Work and Timesville secrets.
Search method
- cover the floor in overlapping passes;
- slow down when the response changes;
- check the actual pickup after finding the hotspot; and
- remember that a detected object may begin a longer collection chain.
This page lists the two route-critical targets. It is not a claim that every optional buried object in the full game has been catalogued.
